More Screens of Upgraded Ship Graphics

I just finished reading a decent Dev Blog over at EVE-Online. Some interesting things in testing, like EVE Karaoke o_O Give the people what they want I guess. Those Icelanders sure like their Karaoke. There was also some really great screenshots of some of the new completed ship models...

Hope you enjoyed those as much as I did. Can't wait to see the rest of them.

A Place to Show Off Our Prized Rides

I've created a new image gallery for the express purpose of showing off our favorite ships. If you'd like to have your ship featured on the "Smuggler Ships" portion of the site you need to A) Be a registered member B) Have a name for your ship and C) Have at least one picture of your ship.

If you own a ship that you'd like to have featured, let me know on the Hanger forums, please list the ship's name, class and it's primary function (i.e. smuggling, hauling, combat, recon, etc...), and I'll create a gallery for you to upload pics to. So far I haven't put a limit on how many ships a member can have on the page, so if you have more than one favorite, that should be fine, we can add them all. Enjoy.

Site Update Complete

Well, the site's been updated, and the security problems should be fixed, I've also updated the EVE Smugglers theme a bit, so we've got a slightly new look. Hope you all enjoy. I'm still trying to get the site to display properly in Internet Explorer, though I still prefer users to use Mozilla Firefox, since it's just a better web browser.

Site Security Issues

Well, the site was locked down by my hosting provider for a while over the weekend while I was at a Sci-Fi Convention. I didn't find this out until I got home on Sunday. Apparently there's a security issue in Drupal 4.7.5, which our site runs on. I first tried to update to Drupal 5.1, but that made the Forums, Gallery and Theme incompatible. Then I learned that there's an update for Drupal 4.7.6 that will allow us to keep all the compatibility. Luckily I backed up the site directory and the MySql database, so I was able to roll back from the 5.1 upgrade. So I'll be updating to that today, and updating the theme, so if the site's acting a bit wonky, that's why. Wish me luck.

New Image Gallery Added

I've added an Image Gallery to the Eve Smugglers site, it can be found on the top navigation menu.

Fixed Forum Access Problems

You should all be able to access the forums on EVESmugglers.com now. Sorry, it was my mistake, after some searching, I stumbled across it and fixed it. So post away!

EVE Smugglers Fireproof Video

Well, I was up till about 2am working on this video, just a little promotional tool for the website and stuff. It's on YouTube, but I'll include a copy here too.

Hopefully there'll be more to come.

EON Issue #6

I got my copy of EON issue 6 yesterday, and read through the entire "Look Who's Walking" cover story. I have to say, it's got some really nice stuff in there, the mention of flowing clothes, bumping by people and seeing docked ships in the hangers was pretty cool. It also mentions the fact that the first installment of ambulation will have corporate offices of varying size and qualities. Not to mention the fact that you'll be able to decorate the offices to your taste. They also gave a rough timeline of 12 to 18 months (from November 2006). Pick up a copy of EON if you want to know more.

Atmospheric Flight Screens

I found these two screenshots in my wanderings around the internets. The first is an Amarr Crusader on a desert world, the second is a Caldari ship on a sub-arctic planet at night. I've got to wonder if they're procedurally generating these planet's surfaces based on in-game information, anyway, here's the pics, click on the thumbnails to view them full size.

Full Body Avatars and On-Station Interaction Coming to EVE Online

CCP announced at it's recent fan fest that it will be integrating full body avatars into a "ground game" on stations. The original Dev Blog can be found here.

"As many of you have probably heard, either at the Fanfest last weekend or in the forums, we are working on a system to render and animate full-body characters within EVE. The system will be used to represent your character in-station and other locations where a capsuleer ( pod pilot ) would crawl out of his pod, take a quick shower, throw some clothes on and mingle with other capsuleers.

Hanger Concept

This opens up a huge amount of questions and speculation that have to do with technical issues and game design issues. As the project has just started within the company, many questions can not be answered at the moment, but I hope to clear things up a bit with this blog.
